Ouzoud is home to Morocco's most magnificent waterfalls — the Cascades d'Ouzoud, where three tiers of water plunge over 110 meters through dramatic red rock cliffs into a series of turquoise pools below. Surrounded by olive groves and lush vegetation, the falls are a spectacular oasis of green in the arid landscape. The name 'Ouzoud' comes from the Berber word for 'olive', reflecting the thousands of olive trees that surround the falls. Barbary macaques (monkeys) inhabit the cliffs and frequently entertain visitors with their antics.
The Ouzoud Waterfalls were formed by the Oued El-Abid River carving through the limestone and sandstone cliffs over millennia. The area has been inhabited by Berber tribes for centuries, who cultivated olives and grains on the surrounding plateaus. The falls were relatively unknown to international visitors until the late 20th century but have become one of Morocco's most visited natural attractions. Despite growing tourism, the area retains its natural beauty and traditional character.

Visit in spring (March-May) when the water flow is strongest after winter rains. Summer (June-August) offers pleasant swimming but can be crowded. Weekdays are much quieter than weekends. Wear sturdy shoes for the hike down (and back up). The steps down to the base are uneven — take care when wet. Bring swimwear. Try the local trout at restaurants near the falls.
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most pleasant temperatures. Summers are ideal for coastal areas, while winter is perfect for city tours.
