Itinerary

Your driver and guide will be waiting to welcome you at the pier to start your El Jadida and Azemmour shore excursion from Casablanca. Take it easy on the roughly 60-minute drive to El Jadida, formerly known as Mazagan, which was built by the Portuguese on the Atlantic coast in the sixteenth century. Acknowledged as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this fortified town is renowned for its ramparts and bastions.

Churches and mosques coexist peacefully inside the ramparts, as do historic Portuguese homes with wrought iron balconies and pilasters. Strolling around the ramparts provides wonderful views of the fishermen's harbor, the bastions, and the mix of Portuguese homes and churches.

The Portuguese Cistern, formerly an arsenal that was transformed into a water cistern during times of war, is a well-known landmark in Mazagan. Walk through the Medina and enjoy a delicious seafood lunch first. After lunch, we drive on to Azemmour, stopping first to take in the expansive view of the banks of the Oum Rabiaa River at the fortified village's entrance. A stroll through the whitewashed town reveals a 16th-century synagogue, a representation of Moroccan Jews, Arabs, and Berbers living in harmony with one another.

Return to the Casablanca pier to conclude your shore excursion to El Jadida and Azemmour.
