Henna is a traditional element of Moroccan culture. Learning how to prepare it and seeing the process firsthand while enjoying Moroccan tea and engaging in conversation with a Berber woman is a unique way to immerse yourself in Morocco’s traditions and leave with a lasting memory on your skin.
Henna is a natural reddish dye made from crushed leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant, which is native to regions in the Middle East, Asia (especially India), and subtropical Africa. It has been used since the Bronze Age. Originally applied for medicinal purposes to cool the body (hands and feet), it later became a decorative element.
Today, henna is a popular aesthetic and decorative practice for both men and women. It is also a traditional element for Moroccan brides and grooms, symbolizing good luck for the couple.
This workshop will be led by an expert in the art of henna with years of experience. She will welcome you into her home, where the workshop will take place, offering an experience that will engage all five senses. A translator will assist throughout the experience.
During the workshop, our expert will prepare henna, explaining the process and ingredients involved. All henna used is made with 100% natural ingredients. You can choose a design, word, or motif for your henna, or select from our expert’s portfolio of designs.
Once the henna is ready, the expert will apply your chosen design while you enjoy Moroccan tea and a conversation about Berber culture, traditions, and lifestyle. Henna can be applied to hands and feet, or upon request, to other areas like the arm, forearm, or ankle.
It’s important to note that henna needs time to dry; avoid touching anything with the applied area until it has fully set to prevent smudging.
This workshop offers a deeper insight into Morocco, ensuring it becomes an unforgettable experience.
